Join us on Tuesday 8th April to discuss the proposal to create a new Mayoral Strategic Authority covering Southampton, Portsmouth, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

If approved, this Authority would have an elected Mayor and responsibilities such as economic growth, strategic planning, infrastructure and transport. The proposal is out for consultation until April 13th with a final decision expected in the Summer.

What does this mean for Southampton? What are the benefits for our city? And if the Strategic Authority is created, how can Southampton realise those benefits?

The session will be introduced by Lorna Fielker (Leader, Southampton City Council) and we’ll be joined by representatives of businesses and communities for what promises to be an illuminating discussion.

Confirmed speakers so far:
Lorna Fielker (Leader, Southampton City Council)
Will Jennings (Professor of Political Science and Public Policy, UoS)
Debbie Tann (CEO, Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust)
