In this interactive online learning workshop, you’ll consider what and how you might test your most promising ideas.

Are you a higher education student or educator? Join RSA Spark for the fourth in its series of free interactive online learning workshops.

What this workshop offers

In this workshop, you’ll consider how you can bring your ideas to life and start testing them in the real world. You’ll also learn:

  • How you can adapt and change your idea based on the feedback you receive. This process (called iteration) helps you make your ideas stronger and more effective in the real world.
  • The potential impact of your ideas on people, places, and the planet. Assessing impact helps you understand the real-world effects of your prototypes and how they contribute to positive change.

The workshop will grow your capabilities in creativity, change and communication:

  • Creativity is about imagining and making exciting new ideas happen for to create a better future for everyone in our community.
  • Navigating change means adapting and making a positive impact in a constantly evolving world. It’s about embracing new opportunities and using them to create meaningful changes.
  • Communication is about sharing stories and perspectives, including your own, in a way that ensures everyone’s voice is heard. It’s essential for handling disagreements constructively and ensuring fairness in conversations.

Growing these capabilities will support you to:

  • Turn ideas into actions that make things better.
  • Deal with things that are unknown or lots of new things happening quickly.
  • Speak in a way that makes others listen, understand and act.

This workshop will support you in identifying and developing an idea with the greatest potential impact and prepare you for the final stage of the creative process: exploring the business and economic viability of your idea while delivering positive social and environmental impact.

What is RSA Spark?

RSA Spark marks the beginning of a new chapter, built on the foundations of 100 years of the Student Design Awards to achieve greater impact. RSA Spark supports students aged 18 and above from around the globe to develop ideas in response to real-world briefs – social, economic and environmental innovation questions.

RSA Spark is free to enter and open to currently enrolled and recently graduated students from all disciplines. To take part, students – working individually or in a team – should identify a creative opportunity that fits within the wider theme of one of the available briefs, come up with and test a possible solution, and then submit their idea to RSA Spark. The link to submit will be accessible from 20 May 2025 via the RSA Spark webpage.

Why join these RSA Spark workshops?

In responding to an RSA Spark Brief, you have an opportunity to grow capabilities for life, 10 future-proof skills that are important when innovating in ways that positively impact people, places and planet. You can find out more about these capabilities here.

RSA Spark proposes a five-stage creative process to guide you through responding to your chosen brief and focus on these capabilities. To support you, we’ve provided a series of online learning workshops that correspond with these stages.

You are invited to join the workshop to strengthen your skills and your idea submission. The workshops will also be available for playback.

RSA Spark digital badges are awarded to everyone who joins a learning workshop (Explorer Badge) and submits their idea (Practitioner and Collaborator Badges). Badges can be used on CVs and education applications to validate your learning.
