An artist talk with paper artist Carole Bury FRSA and Pure founder Lesley Samms, as part of the RSA’s summer Connection exhibition.

The talk coincides with Carole’s Pleated Drawings being part of the new summer Group Show “Connection” in the Vaults at RSA House.

Space on Steps is limited but the event is free to attend and open to all.

Meet the speakers

Carole Bury

Carole Bury FRSA graduated in 1981 from Manchester Polytechnic studying drawing and fine art Embroidery. She moved to London working with the British Crafts Centre, the 62 Group and Fibre Arts. Whilst working and living in Papua New Guinea she continued to exhibit with the 62 Group and working with the Commonwealth Institute.

Carole has continued to refine her practice with Paper as her medium of choice and currently is a member of IAPMA, The Pure Arts Group and ArtCan Organisation. Work has recently been included in the RWA Bristol, Gallery 57 in Arundel, Cloud of Witnesses in St John’s Waterloo and the Spring Gallery, Cheltenham.

Lesley Samms

Pure Founder Lesley Samms MSc ANLP FRSA has a background in finance, marketing and branding and a Masters Degree in International Event management from Brighton University. She also successfully completed her professional NLP training in 2019 and is a member of ANLP. Pure is an award winning contemporary art mentoring organisation, internationally recognised for discovering, mentoring and supporting talent in contemporary art.

She helps creatives explore and uncover the possibilities and opportunities hidden within themselves, inspiring confidence, growth mindset and a positive outlook.

She advocates for women and young people, is a Gold Arts Award Mentor and coach, certified Mental Health First Aider with MHFA England, a British Certified Trainer and on the Journal editorial and arts boards at the RSA.
