With the RSA’s Food, Farming and Countryside Commission in full swing, we hope you’ll be able to join us at a special food and drink-themed RSA meetup.
We’ll start with coffee at The Barn, a shop, deli, café and butchery offering the finest local produce from Bedfordshire and nearby.
Then we’ll take a short stroll to Warden Abbey Vineyard. This community vineyard is a not-for-profit project located on the site of the former Cistercian Warden Abbey. It aims to provide social, health and educational benefits for local people whilst providing a financially and environmentally sustainable future for this historic vineyard.
After a guided tour, with plenty of opportunity for questions and conversation about the vineyard and the work of the commission, we’ll then take a short drive to the walled garden at Caesar’s Camp for further discoveries (including a trial vineyard I have just planted there) and light refreshments, with wine tastings, as guests of Lord Naseby.
Approximate timings as follows:
- 11am - The Barn Cardington (then walk to).
- 11.30 - Warden Abbey Vineyard (then drive to).
- 12.50 - Caesar’s Camp.
- 14.00pm - Finish.
