RSA Stirling Meet Up

Fellowship Event

 -

Stirling Court Hotel

The body of Charles Byrne, the Irish Giant, was snatched after he died in 1783. It was put on show at the Hunterian Museum in London – against his express wishes. RSA Stirling Fellow Dr Thomas Muinzer will tell Byrne’s story, explore the legal loopholes around body snatching, and talk about his campaign to have Byrne’s last wishes respected.

As the Hunterian London prepares to reopen its doors in 2021, Muinzer asks if it will continue to exhibit the skeleton of a tragic figure who simply wanted to left to rest in peace.
