What happens when our ways of living become uninhabitable?

As the general public becomes more aware of the weight of a world facing climate crisis, this question rises to the top. When the narrative is framed around personal sacrifice, inevitably any opportunity for creating impact becomes pigeonholed around the individual’s role. How can we connect deeper with the idea that each of us is part of and complicit in our wider system, pushing the conversation beyond just consumer choice?

Forum for the Future has been funded by the KR Foundation to develop a community - the Boundless Roots community - of people looking at how we change how we live in ways that are commensurate with the challenge ahead of us. How do we re-imagine what it means to live together on one planet and how do we actually make the shift?

For this event, Forum for the Future's Daniel Ford and Sean Andrew will facilitate a conversation that will look at:

  • The process of shared collaborative inquiry as systems change in practice

  • Insights from the first phase of inquiry with community members and some of their amazing projects creating shifts in how we live

  • Running a real-time shared inquiry with you about how we change how we live, exploring the underlying roots and drivers of change

You will hear from:

  • We will ask a Boundless Roots community member to come to talk about their work and growing edges

  • Daniel Ford is a Strategist at Forum for the Future, working on a mixture of strategy projects and system change experiments in response to the climate crisis. He specialises in taking a systems approach to complex problems, and has been co-facilitating the inquiry process in the Boundless Roots community.

  • Sean Andrew is Principal Systems Coach at Forum for the Future, exploring the capabilities and enabling contexts individuals, organisations and collaboratives need to catalyze and sustain structural and transformative systems change. His experience ranges from facilitating collaborative governance in the public sector; managing community-based micro-enterprises; designing participatory action-research and evaluation programmes; founding a wilderness connection and survival organisation; and alternative dispute resolution.

This event will be conversational, with plenty of time to ask questions of the speakers and meet other attendees.
