John Grierson is one of the most important figures in British documentary film making. He was born in Deanston, near Stirling. John Izod will be talking about the release of his film Drifters as silent movies gave way to sound. John is one of the foremost figures in the study of Film and Media, he is emeritus professor of screen analysis at the University of Stirling and established the University as a centre of film and media studies from the late 1970s.
