ASN | Reassessing Value Part 1 - RSA

Augmented Society Network | reassessing value (part 1)

Online

 -

US Timezones: Noon - 1pm PT / 3 - 4pm ET

  • Economics and Finance

Prior to Covid-19, the overwhelming barometer of value was currency, status and the traditional drivers of materialism. While there have been outliers on personal, communal and macro levels, the reality of the pandemic has forced us all to reassess value.

Regardless of incumbent practices around money, positioning and attainability, emotional levers are turning measures of transactional and exchange value on their head. Serious discourse has begun in re-framing value through alternatives to GDP such as work pioneered by Kate Raworth’s “Doughnut Economics.” But outside of the world of economics, how can we impact value regimes from the bottom up?

Can systems be put in place that capture and reward citizens beyond the money they’ve amassed? How does technology play a role?

Augmented Society Network has been focusing, since March this year, on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on society.

RSA Fellows, professionals and interested parties from all over the world have come together to discuss its impact. After much conversation, widely differing thoughts and opinions the group identified three important themes: education, value, and resourcing.

Join us to discuss

  • How might we define and measure value for the new paradigm?

  • What examples do we have of how alternative value has been established and is working well?

  • Where we can leverage historical value concepts?

  • What changes should we  be making to economic and social systems to reflect new standards of value?
