The RSA and its Fellows have been bringing people together to unlock ideas and innovation in the areas of society that must thrive so we can live well - to identify how the world could, and should, change after the pandemic. We’re inviting you to share ideas of how this thinking can apply in Essex.
We hope you can join us all day, but all sessions are optional. For planning purposes, you will be asked to indicate which sessions you’d like to attend when you book (sessions are in bold).
10.00-10.15 – Welcome and arrivals
10:15-10:45 – Opening Plenary from Matthew Taylor
11:00-12:30 – Inspiration: a panel and Q&A session featuring four Projects who have taken Collective and Collaborative approaches to create change.
- Shope Fashade from Black Lives Matter Chelmsford
- Syrie Cox and Rachel Roach from Southend YMCA talking about “Find Your Voice”
- Daniel Potts and guests from Healthwatch Essex project “Collaboration in Action Forum”
- Lucy Harris Tilbury on Thames Trust
12:45-13:15 – Connection: sometimes the best ideas emerge from unexpected meetings. Join for a light touch facilitated networking and connecting session.
14:00-15:30 - Action: an interactive session focused on small group, action-focused “How might we” conversations. Attendees will make the final selection of topics. We’re suggesting those below but sign up by 30th September if you’d like to suggest an alternative, or by 7th October to vote on the final selection.
“How might we include Essex citizens in:
• “Building a local economy that works for all”
• “Connecting with and protecting our wild spaces”
• “Creating a “county of learning”
• “Supporting Community Members facing life challenges”
• “Reinvigorating our town centres”
• “Developing a thriving creative and cultural landscape”
15:30-16:00 - Reflection: takeaways and closing thoughts

Taking Part in RSA Online Events
For our interactive online events, the RSA uses the platform Zoom. We have found it simple for participants to use while also providing the necessary functionality for an engaging online event.
If you’d like to attend but would like a brief introduction to Zoom in advance in order to make the most of the day, please get in touch so that we can arrange this.
We record many of our online events. By attending this online event you accept that you may appear in RSA videos as a participant. Our intention is to use any recording of this event for learning purposes and to document the content of the discussion. Currently, we do not have plans to share this recording publicly but may do so in the future.
If you have any access requirements or require any reasonable adjustments, please let the team know: [email protected].
