Join us – the RSA Islington Network – at this online discussion to explore the far-reaching and radical ideas of “degrowth”.

After 70 years of pursuing vibrant economic growth across the globe, there are now calls for degrowth – to replenish our increasingly denuded planet and restore its atmosphere to one that reliably supports life.

But degrowth means different things to different people. We will explore three distinct views: market-led degrowth, society-led degrowth, and planet-led degrowth. In breakout groups, we will discuss how these different views lead to different ambitions and responses, which are the most akin to our own, and if they can be brought together.

Join us as we consider and question our beliefs and gain insights into other perspectives, so that we can have more constructive conversations with people whose views differ from our own, and become better able to influence this live but under-discussed concept.

On registration you will receive a link to a small amount of evocative pre-event reading, which will help set the scene.

This event continues the RSA Islington Network’s theme for this year: reducing Islington’s impact on the planet. Participants beyond Islington (Fellow and non-Fellow) are welcome.
