  • Deliberative democracy

Please join us for the first online RSA Salisbury Café event on Tuesday 2 March.

The Café is intended to be an exchange of ideas modelled on the Socrates Cafés running worldwide, and on the Democracy Café in Salisbury, facilitated by Dickie Bellinger FRSA and Mark Potts.

We hope, in running this joint RSA Salisbury and RSA South West region event, to evolve and support locally the national campaign being run by the RSA to promote deliberative democracy.

The RSA Café will have no preset agenda and the two topics for discussion will be determined by participants at the start of the meeting. If you have a local or national issue you would like to see discussed, please offer it for consideration. The aim is to engage in impassioned yet thoughtful exchanges of ideas and ideals. We welcome people with a diversity of views. If you like your coffee with a sprinkling of ideas on the side and good company, this event may be for you.

The meeting is open to non-Fellows and Fellows. We welcome all who support the work of the RSA and who are interested in finding out more about deliberative democracy. There is a maximum registration of 30 people for this event so please register early to avoid disappointment. If you book and are unable to attend, please let us know ASAP so places can be released to those on the waiting list.

Taking part in RSA online events

For our interactive online events, the RSA uses the platform Zoom. We have found it simple for participants to use while also providing the necessary functionality for an engaging online event.

To participate in the event, you will need to register for a ticket to receive the bespoke link to join. You will be sent detailed instructions via email closer to the event. Attendees will need to register for a free Zoom account and download their software. To understand more about how Zoom uses your data, please read their Privacy Policy in advance.

We record many of our online events. By attending this online event you accept that you may appear in RSA videos as a participant. Our intention is to use any recording of this event for learning purposes and to document the content of the discussion. Currently we do not have plans to share this recording publicly but may do so in the future.

If you have any access requirements or require any reasonable adjustments, please let the team know: networks@rsa.org.uk.

Upon registering for the event, you will receive the bespoke Zoom link in your order confirmation email. On the day of the event, please note that latecomers will not be admitted 15 minutes after the start time of the event for security purposes.
