Inspired by the RSA’s origin in an enlightenment coffeehouse over 250 years ago, our new Northern Coffeehouse series offers an interactive space to share ideas for social change.
This week we’re joined by Sitakumari from Heartstone Odyssey.
Heartstone Odyssey is a UK-based non-profit arts, cultural and educational organisation founded in 1990 following the publication of the book ‘The Heartstone Odyssey’. They use the characters and story to inspire and lead to change in perceptions, attitudes and behaviour - to see people as not that different from yourself, to see a common humanity.
They achieve their aims through storytelling – literature, photodocumentary, history - which they present through exhibition events, publication, dance-drama performances, installations and online. The stories are used to generate discussion, debate and inspire new creation. Sitakumari joins us to share her stories of social change, give an insight into the Heartstone Odyssey’s projects, and invite people to get involved in their own local neighbourhoods.
Join us most Fridays for an informal lunchtime talk followed by a chance to discuss the topic of the day or anything else that is on your mind, in small breakout rooms. Starting at 1pm and finished by 1.45pm, you can enjoy your Friday lunch break with inspiring speakers and interesting colleagues.
