Our in-person meetups for the Newcastle Encounters continue. For April, our speakers are from the Elders Council of Newcastle.

Firstly, we have Barbara Douglas. Barbara has worked on ageing issues in Newcastle since 1995. She has been involved in national and international ageing initiatives and is leading the work towards Newcastle becoming an Age Friendly City.

And secondly, we have Clare Levi. Clare has worked in the voluntary sector in Newcastle since 2000 and has a background in community development and health. She works alongside a diverse group of older people in Newcastle to enable active involvement in the work of the Elders Council.

They will introduce the work of the Elders Council, how they work in communities and strategically towards an age friendly city. They will present some examples of creative projects they have developed that enable older people to have voice, as well as discussing how participants can get actively involved in working to challenge ageism.

Join other RSA Fellows and friends for an informal chance to catch up and chat at Northern Stage, Barras Bridge. All welcome from 6pm, whether you’ve been before or you’re new to the group.

We encourage all attendees that are sick or showing symptoms of illness to stay home and to cancel your Eventbrite ticket if you are no longer able to join the event.
