At the RSA we’re all about uniting people and ideas to resolve the challenges of our time.

As part of that, on 14 July, we’re joining forces with the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts to run the latest event in our conference season for the North of England at their campus on Mount Street, Liverpool.

We're bringing together leading local figures from the worlds of culture, academia, politics and charity for a series of lightning talks and performances on different aspects of the intersection between the arts and contested notions of citizenship.

Our invited guest speakers on the day include:

  • Cllr Matthew Brown, leader of Preston City Council
  • Jon Alexander, author of Citizens
  • Katy Rubin, Theatre of the Oppressed
  • Ashleigh Nugent, Rise Up CIC
  • Natasha Ryan, Reformed Development
  • Brendon Burns, Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts
  • Julie Hesmondhalgh, actress and activist

We're keeping the guests’ slots short (all will be around fifteen minutes in length) so we can hear from as many people as possible. Come along to be inspired, meet like-minded people, and spark some ideas to shape the future of the North’s cultural offering.

Tickets are free, but spaces are limited, so be sure to book your place quickly.

Taking part in RSA in-person events

To participate in the event, you will need to register for a ticket so we can make sure we have an up-to-date list of those who plan on attending. This is for capacity purposes.

We encourage all attendees that are sick or showing symptoms of illness to stay home and to cancel your Eventbrite ticket if you are no longer able to join the event.

If you have any questions, or to let us know of any access requirements or reasonable adjustments you require, please email: networks@rsa.org.uk
