Clive Grinyer

Director of Service Design, Barclays

Clive heads the Service Design team at Barclays Bank and is a Visiting Tutor in Service Design at the Royal College of Art.

 

Clive graduated from Central St Martins and worked with IDEO founder Bill Moggridge’s design offices in San Francisco and London. Clive went on to found Tangerine product design consultancy with Martin Darbyshire and Jonathan Ive. Clive later set up and led several corporate design teams at Samsung Europe, Orange / France Telecom in London and Paris, TAG McLaren and Cisco.

 

Clive was Design Director at the UK Design Council where he developed the Designing Demand scheme taking designers into technology and manufacturing. He moved to Barclays in 2013 as Director of Customer Experience in the Design Office leading digital design teams designing projects ranging from investment platforms to digital visualisation of crime and intelligence data. He now runs a service design team using design methodology to improve and develop existing and new services and customer experience.

 

Clive is the author of Smart Design, writes on designs and technology issues, is on the Design Advisory Board of the RSA where he was a Trustee for 6 years and is visiting professor at Glasgow School of Art.
