Dr Elena Dieckmann
Co-founder & Head of Innovation, pluumo
Elena is a Lecturer in the Dyson School of Design Engineering. Elena leads the second year of the MA/MSc Innovation Design Engineering, a joint master between the Royal College of Art and Imperial College. She helps students to develop and prototype disruptive innovations. Her specialist area is process innovation for circular materials, derived from waste or bio-feedstocks. Her main research contribution to date is the development of the world's first feather based thermal packaging material, which was launched in Europe (2018) under the brand pluumo through Aeropowder Ltd, with her co-founder Dr Ryan Robinson. Aeropowder was founded by Ryan Robinson and Elena Dieckmann and 2016 and is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of fully compostable, sustainable cold chain packaging.
