In September 2023, Australian FRSA Patrick Kilmartin was announced the winner of the Australian German Association - Goethe Institut Fellowship.

The Fellowship is suppported by the Australian German Association and the Goethe-Institut to deepen the relationship between Australia and Germany and to support the development of future leaders in the community.

Patrick's research project 'Live Music Culture in Germany: Opportunities for Australia' will take him to Germany to examine the opportunities and learnings for Australia, from analysing live music culture there. It aims to aid the post-covid recovery of a live music culture of fair and sustainable community access in Australia, while also promoting new musical connections between both countries.

Patrick's project was initially shaped by, and will continue to benefit from, discussions with members of the RSA community. It represents the RSA's international approach to community changemaking.

Patrick looks forward to sharing his recommendations with us next year, upon the project's completion. If you have useful contacts in Germany involved in the production or governance of live music, you can connect with him here on Circle.
