Trust in politicians is consistently low, amidst expense  scandals, sexual harassment allegations, and endemic policy failures. What’s gone wrong?

 

We often feel fatalistic about politics and the politicians elected to represent us. The ‘Westminster bubble’ brings to mind a political class far out of touch with the concerns of ordinary people, making policies that aren’t fit for purpose. How did we end up with such a toxic political culture, and with representatives who we don’t feel really understand us?

Award-winning political journalist Isabel Hardman lifts the lid on what goes on inside the corridors of power and looks at what needs to change for us to get the right politicians.
