No filter: what young people really think about democracy

At a time of political volatility, rising misinformation, and widespread disillusionment with the political establishment, this RSA / wonderfuture event provides a rare and vital platform for young people to speak with each other and with decision-makers about the democratic futures they want to build.
This 90-minute event brings together young adults & expert guests for an evening of critical discussion, facilitated dialogue, and reflective exchange on the future of democracy. Taking place at RSA House, the historical home for ideas that shape society, this event aligns with RSA’s focus this year on ‘connections’ to inspire the next generation of thinkers and leaders. The conversation is part of a broader initiative called Lunch for Democracy which brings together young people to engage in respectful, thoughtful, and provocative dialogue about democracy, media, and civic life, sparking conversation and inspiration for the next generation of citizens and leaders. Launched in schools in the UK in 2024, Lunch for Democracy is growing rapidly and is now in schools in Kenya, Malawi and the USA, and soon to launch in Senegal.
