We’re continuing the series of bringing the RSA South West and What Next? West Chapter communities together online to connect, check in and to hear from different speakers.

Join us on 25 February, where we will hear from filmmakers Lehla and Anthony Eldridge-Rogers FRSA, who will talk about their short film BOOM and its exploration of mental health and wellbeing and the arts.

BOOM is a story set in the mind of Dot, a young woman struggling with her mental health. In a fairytale-like fashion it follows her on her journey through her dark mind until she has a 'Boom' moment and realises she can come to terms with the trauma that she has been through. Made entirely in lockdown, BOOM is a tale about grief, loss, acceptance and ultimately love.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions and join in the conversation. Everyone is welcome, Fellows and non-Fellows.

About the film

We ask that everyone takes time to watch the film prior to the event, so that they can fully take part in the conversation, the film is 24 minutes long and is suitable for ages 10+.  Watch the film here.

BOOM is the first short film out of the Jump Fall Fly Productions creative studio.

We aim to make films and other kinds of media that have a go at addressing the needs of our times through the doors of artistic and creative experience and participation.

This first film explores the mind, coming to terms with our own struggles, finding our best selves, and overcoming resistance to grief and letting go. With some laughs I would add!

Taking part in RSA online events

For our interactive online events, the RSA uses the platform Zoom. We have found it simple for participants to use while also providing the necessary functionality for an engaging online event.

To participate in the event, you will need to register for a ticket to receive the bespoke link to join. You will be sent detailed instructions via email closer to the event. Attendees will need to register for a free Zoom account and download their software. To understand more about how Zoom uses your data, please read their Privacy Policy in advance.

We record many of our online events. By attending this online event you accept that you may appear in RSA videos as a participant. Our intention is to use any recording of this event for learning purposes and to document the content of the discussion. Currently we do not have plans to share this recording publicly but may do so in the future.

If you have any access requirements or require any reasonable adjustments, please let the team know: networks@rsa.org.uk.

Upon registering for the event, you will receive the bespoke Zoom link in your order confirmation email. On the day of the event, please note that latecomers will not be admitted 15 minutes after the start time of the event for security purposes.
