RSA President’s Lecture 2019

In her 2019 RSA President’s Lecture, Emma Howard Boyd, Chair of the Environment Agency and UK Commissioner to the Global Commission on Adaptation, called on governments, industry, public agencies and civil society to forge new alliances and create new possibilities for action. 

At a time of global flux and uncertainty, Emma discussed the guiding principles of leadership that are needed to drive transformational change. 

Our Future in the Land Launch Event

The RSA Food, Farming & Countryside Commission final report launch event on 16th July 2019. 

Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, Henry Dimbleby and Duncan Selby join Commissioners to discuss the final report Our Future in the Land and its accompaniment Field Guide for the Future.

God’s Lone Country – our new film about rural poverty 

Farmers who can’t afford to eat the food they produce. Local people who can’t afford to live in their own villages. 

Transport networks which isolate communities. Set in the beautiful backdrop of the Peak District National Park, God’s Lone Country is a 12-minute film which tells the stories of three people struggling in our countryside on low incomes, with poor access to affordable housing and public services, and reveals the tougher realities of life in rural Britain.

A Sustainable Future for Food, Health & Planet?

The EAT-Lancet London event co-hosted by the Food, Farming & Countryside Commission & City University Centre for Food Policy Food Thinkers Seminars on 20th February 2019.

Our Common Ground Launch Event

What will it take to make us act on climate change? BRIT-nominated wordsmith ‘George the Poet’ issues a compelling call to action in this powerful new poem. Words brought to life via the stunning imagery of illustrator Katie Halil (AKA @WhatKatieDrew) 

Food Rules for Healthy People and Planet (Runner-up - RSA / Nominet Trust Short Film Competition)

This film was the winning entry in the RSA / Nominet Trust Film Competition Award 2012. It was from this competition that the RSA Shorts series was born. The animation was created by Marija Jacimovic and Benoit Detalle and uses an excerpt from a speech given by Michael Pollan at the RSA in 2010.
