RSA President’s Lecture 2019
In her 2019 RSA President’s Lecture, Emma Howard Boyd, Chair of the Environment Agency and UK Commissioner to the Global Commission on Adaptation, called on governments, industry, public agencies and civil society to forge new alliances and create new possibilities for action.
At a time of global flux and uncertainty, Emma discussed the guiding principles of leadership that are needed to drive transformational change.

God’s Lone Country – our new film about rural poverty
Farmers who can’t afford to eat the food they produce. Local people who can’t afford to live in their own villages.
Transport networks which isolate communities. Set in the beautiful backdrop of the Peak District National Park, God’s Lone Country is a 12-minute film which tells the stories of three people struggling in our countryside on low incomes, with poor access to affordable housing and public services, and reveals the tougher realities of life in rural Britain.

This film was the winning entry in the RSA / Nominet Trust Film Competition Award 2012.It was from this competition that the RSA Shorts series was born.
The animation was created by Marija Jacimovic and Benoit Detalle and uses an excerpt from a speech given by Michael Pollan at the RSA in 2010.
