What does inclusive growth mean for Scotland's future? Join us to discuss at this Building Inclusive Growth Network Event.
Take part in shaping the conversation at the Scottish launch of the RSA Inclusive Growth Commission's findings, paving the way for Scotland to develop its distinctive voice.
With inclusive growth a central theme of Scottish government strategy, the nation has the opportunity to develop a Scotland-oriented perspective on inclusive growth, drawing on the experience and energy of its existing business and civic coalitions.
Chaired by Ross Martin FRSA (Economic Agitator and former CEO of SCDI), the event will lead off with an overview from the RSA Inclusive Growth Commission, setting out the key principles of the Commission’s work.
Ross will then moderate a panel debate and audience Q&A, allowing the opportunity to learn more about what inclusive growth means for business practice and to share ideas in open forum.
On the panel:
- Sheila Fazal, Director with PwC and member of BITC Responsible Business Leadership Group
- Liz Hoskin, Chair, Chartered Management Institute in Scotland, and entrepreneur
- Chris Oswald, Head of Policy and Communications, Equalities and Human Rights Commission
- Atif Shafique, RSA Inclusive Growth Commission
- Jamie Cooke, Head of RSA Scotland

This event provides a follow-on to the launch of the RSA Inclusive Growth Commission report, 'Making our Economy Work for Everyone' on 7 March 2017. This event is led by the Building Inclusive Growth (BIG) Network, the RSA’s Scottish arm of the inclusive growth initiative.
Published in March 2017, following an extensive evidence-gathering exercise including a ‘deep dive’ in Glasgow, the report outlines a range of approaches aimed at achieving a more inclusive model of economic growth. City region devolution and collaboration, place-based leadership and entrepreneurship, integration of social and economic priorities, organisational collaboration, and devising new ways to measure economic progress are just some of the perspectives discussed. The report questions how institutions, and innovative models and tools, could be adapted to take forward the agenda.
The RSA warmly welcomes the support of Edinburgh University Business School as sponsor and is pleased to be partnering with the University’s Sustainable Business Initiative. The University are generously providing refreshments from 17.00-17.30 and hosting a wine reception from 19.00. The event is free and open to all but places must be booked.
