This March, join the RSA Fellow-led Conscious Living Network to discover practical and easy strategies on how to eat smartly to feel vibrant, stronger, energised, happier and healthier.
As you are aware, the field of nutrition is relatively young and unformed, with widespread disagreement among scientific experts. Nutritional advice can be ambiguous and conflicting; nowadays there are literally hundreds of diets being proposed, many of them advising exact opposite guidelines.
Just a couple of years ago, the World Health Organisation declared that “increases in the risk of several cancers may be associated with consumption of red meat or processed meat” yet diets high in red meat, such as Paleo, Atkins and Whole30 are rising in popularity.
Should I consume dairy? Is it OK to eat animal protein? Is it true that cooking with olive oil could be harmful? Why are cereals now referred to as “Cereal Killers”? Why is it that nowadays carbohydrates are demonised and fat glorified when not so long ago scientists were recommending the complete opposite? How can I know if what I’m eating now is right for me?
To discuss these questions and the wider issues, the Network welcomes guest speaker Sophie Thurner, BSc, ANutr. Sophie is a Registered Nutritionist and fully qualified personal trainer who has been helping people across the globe by providing sustainable nutritional advice to improve and achieve long-term health and wellbeing.
As always, we will provide a safe and warm space for you to share your ideas and opinions, and connect with other members of the RSA Conscious Living Network.
