RSA Greater Brighton Network - Beach Clean!

Fellowship Event

 -

Rottingdean Beach

  • Fellowship

We're headed to Rottingdean beach this summer for a half-day beach clean and talks with RSA Fellows!

Join us in this refreshing environment to meet, make meaningful connections, discuss new ideas or interests, and boost wellbeing while taking action to make a difference locally. Experienced beach clean leader Libby Darling FRSA (co-founder of GRAB) will be leading the way for this family-friendly event.

With the public taking increasing notice of the plastics in our ocean and living single-use plastic free, we are excited to put on this beach clean event.  We’ll be joined by Irene Solar, who creates infographics from bottle tops found on our beaches for the seafront, and Claire at Zero Waste Maman, who works with her local community to support all choosing to practice single-use plastic free lifestyles and businesses. She also runs regular beach cleaning events and lots more.

We will provide all beach cleaning equipment needed on the day, including litter pickers, protective gloves, and reusable bags.

What to bring: We’ll gather rain or shine, so bring clothing and gear appropriate for the day. If it’s hot, bring hats, sunscreen, and water.  If there are showers, bring wet weather gear.

Please bring a picnic lunch and a reusable cup or water bottle to enjoy a hot or cold beverage from a local café we are partnering with. At the end of the clean there will be ice creams for us to enjoy!

Who can join:  All are welcome to join for this family-friendly event.  If you have any access requirements or require any reasonable adjustments, please let the team know: networks@rsa.org.uk. We can arrange seafront access for vehicles and beach wheelchairs if needed with advance notice. Please also let us know if you have any dietary requirements or severe allergies.

To ensure group safety, numbers are limited to 40. Please register a free ticket in advance using the link above.

Location: Start and finish at the main Rottingdean beach. We will be visible on the beach with flags, tables, and chairs. Please note that the postcode listed for the event location is for the nearby Molly’s at the Beach café, slightly east of where we’ll be.

If you have any questions about the event, please contact Claire Doran, RSA South East Area Manager: claire.doran@rsa.org.uk.
